India :
India is possibly the largest English speaking country. There are one billion. Not all speak English. But in order to communicate beyond the local village/town, English becomes a must as this former British colony consists of many different peoples and languages sometimes as remotely related as Danish and Chinese.
Although India is often considered a 3rd World country, she has had a stable democracy since her independence and holds the largest middle class in the world.
Many Indian writers like Salman Rushdie and Arudhati Roy (first Indian Booker Prize winner) have won international recognition in the 90s.
