The Commonwealth.
The next 2 months the theme will be the Commonwealth. Each group is going to focus on one Commonwealth country including one novel representing this particular country.
Procedure.
You have 4 double lessons to prepare your part. After that the groups take turns at presenting their material and novel. The other students read the relevant novels as homework for particular lessons.
Product Requirements.
Each group has to:
Make a speech for the class on their particular Commonwealth country. The presentation should include the following points: culture, history, geography, the indigenous population (if relevant), government/ politics, and the relationship to England. You can use the internet or find material at the library. Recount a topical news item from some news media from your country. The presentation must be backed up by a 3-5 page long PowerPoint slide show. Make an analysis of your novel with the class. (The class has prepared the novel at home for this lesson) The analysis must be accompanied by a work sheet with questions for the text which the students are to work with in pairs.
It would be appropriate to spend one lesson on your speech and 3 on your novel.
